5 DAYS MOUNT KILIMANJARO CLIMB VIA MARANGU ROUTE

The Kilimanjaro trekking Marangu Via route 5 days itinerary is fairly easy despite of its difficulty at the final part to the summit. Termed easier route, the route has encountered the highest failure rate due to bad preparation and untimely attempt. The above situations have moved KINAPA officials to put more emphasis and serious measures for those who climb Mt Kilimanjaro on the Marangu route. All camps along this route have good radio communication to the park office. Some goods like mineral water, soft drinks, beer and chocolates are available in these camps.

The Marangu route can trek in 5 days however, one additional day is advisable for acclimatization at Horombo camp. Marangu is the only route on this Mountain that offers hut accommodation in beds and mattresses. The route can also trek in 6 days & more. Taking 6 days that means 1 day will be for acclimatization at Horombo hut which covers almost 96 km long. Short Tanzania safari or beach holidays in Zanzibar can be combined with your Kilimanjaro trekking on request.

MOUNT KILIMANJARO CLIMB VIA MARANGU ROUTE 5 DAYS ITINERARY

There are six established routes to climb Mount Kilimanjaro – Marangu, Machame, Lemosho, Shira, Rongai and Umbwe. The Marangu, Machame, and Umbwe routes all approach from the south of the mountain. The Lemosho and Shira routes approach from the west. The Rongai route approaches from the north near Kenya. All routes except Marangu and Rongai descend via Mweka.

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro via The Marangu Route

Marangu Route, commonly known as the Coca Cola route is more popular because it can be done in fewer days and has permanent sleep huts at the campsites.

Summit night from Kibo Hut is steep and passes Gilman’s Point to Uhuru Peak. It is a shorter route with a steeper incline and less time for acclimatization it tends to have a lower summit success rate. This is the only route where the ascent and descent route is shared, thus creating more traffic.
