Day-by-Day Itinerary — 5-Day Tanzania Safari from Nairobi
Day 1 – Fly from Nairobi to Arusha & Explore Tarangire National Park
Your unforgettable Tanzania safari from Nairobi begins with a scenic one-hour morning flight from Nairobi — departing from Wilson Airport (WIL) or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) — to Arusha, the beating heart of Tanzania’s northern safari circuit.
Upon landing, your Travel Wise Safari guide greets you at the airport with a friendly briefing about your adventure ahead. From there, enjoy a picturesque drive through Maasai country toward Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s most underrated wildlife havens.
The park’s dramatic landscape of ancient baobab trees, golden savannah, and the winding Tarangire River sets the stage for an incredible game drive. Tarangire is known for its massive elephant herds, but you’ll also spot giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, lions, leopards, and over 400 bird species.
As the sun sets over the valley, arrive at your lodge for dinner and relaxation surrounded by the sounds of the wild.

Day 2 – Journey to the Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, begin your journey toward the legendary Serengeti National Park, Tanzania’s most famous reserve and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The drive passes through the lush Ngorongoro Highlands, with panoramic viewpoints overlooking vast volcanic landscapes and Maasai bomas (villages) where herders tend their cattle. You can stop for a short cultural visit to learn about Maasai traditions before continuing into the open plains.
As you enter the Serengeti gates, the landscape changes dramatically — an ocean of grasslands dotted with acacia trees stretches endlessly to the horizon. This is the stage for the Great Wildebeest Migration, one of the world’s most awe-inspiring natural spectacles (usually June – October).
Enjoy an afternoon game drive, spotting cheetahs, lions, elephants, giraffes, and vast herds of zebras and wildebeest. Later, check into your tented camp for dinner beneath a star-filled sky.

Day 3 – Full-Day Game Drive in Central Serengeti
Wake before dawn for a sunrise safari — the best time to witness predators in action as lions return from the night’s hunt and the savannah comes alive with sound.
Spend the day exploring the Seronera Valley, the heart of the Serengeti, where rivers attract year-round wildlife. This region offers some of the best opportunities in Africa to see lions, leopards, and cheetahs up close, along with herds of elephants, buffaloes, and thousands of antelope.
Pause for a picnic lunch at a scenic viewpoint before continuing your exploration across the open plains. Capture incredible photos of giraffes silhouetted against the setting sun before returning to camp for dinner and storytelling by the fire.

Arrive at the Ngorongoro Crater rim by midday and descend 600 meters (2,000 feet) into what’s often called the Eighth Wonder of the World.Inside this ancient volcanic caldera lives one of Africa’s densest concentrations of wildlife — over 25 000 animals, including lions, rhinos, elephants, buffaloes, and flamingos dancing on soda lakes.
