8 Days Luxury Tanzania Safari (Fly in Safari) itinerary
The 8-day Luxury Tanzania Safari is a fly in/fly out package that involves two domestic flights between Arusha and Serengeti at the start of the safari, and a flight from Lake Manyara Airstrip back to either Arusha or Kilimanjaro, depending on your preferences. If you have an evening departure from Kilimanjaro, we can fly you into Arusha and arrange a day room for you (at an additional cost). Alternatively, if you have an early international flight from Kilimanjaro, we will arrange a flight from Lake Manyara to Kilimanjaro, where you can connect to your international flight home.
Day 1 - Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, Travel wise safari representative will receive and transfer you to Arusha. You will have a brief pre-safari meeting with the safari manager, who will guide you on your program and what to anticipate, including how to stay safe in the wilderness. You will spend the night at Arusha Coffee Lodge, with dinner included.
Day 2 - Fly from Arusha to Serengeti National Park
After an early morning meal at your lodge, you will travel to Arusha Domestic Airport for your flight to Seronera Airstrip in Serengeti. Upon arrival, a private safari guide from Tanzania Safari Supremacy will meet you and transport you to your lodge or luxury tented camp, with your first game drive en route. You will reach your destination in time for a hot lunch, and then you can relax for a couple of hours before embarking on an afternoon game drive that lasts for the remainder of the day. You will explore the Serengeti plains until late in the evening, when you will return to your camp/lodge for dinner and spend the night at Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge in Central Serengeti, with all meals included.
Day 3 - 5 - Safari in Serengeti National Park
This is a private safari for you and your companions, giving you the flexibility to decide whether or not to embark on early morning game drives on any of the next three days in Serengeti. Typically, a day begins with an early morning game drive on the Serengeti plains, where you will search for the many animals and birds that thrive in this world-famous park. You will return to your camp/lodge for breakfast, followed by a midday rest where you can spend time reading your favorite book on your camp's veranda or take an afternoon nap with the sound of birds singing in the background. The Serengeti is one of UNESCO's world heritage sites and a world biosphere reserve, home to the Big Five, as well as being where the Wildebeest herds of the famous Wildebeest Migration spends most of the year.
In the afternoon, you will embark on another game drive until dusk when you will retire back to your camp/lodge for a campfire while sipping your favorite drink. You will spend the night at Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge, with dinner and all meals included. Depending on the time of year you travel to Tanzania, we may substitute your accommodation in Serengeti based on the season and the location of the animals.
Day 6 Serengeti to Ngorongoro Highlands (by road)
On Day 6 of the safari, you will have your last breakfast at the lodge in Serengeti and then travel by road towards Naabi Hill Gate, where you will stop to stretch your legs and complete necessary paperwork to enter the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCAA). During the drive, you can view wildlife, and if you wish, you may visit a Maasai Village to learn about the culture and traditions of the Maasai tribe. Additionally, you may choose to visit the Olduvai Gorge, an important archaeological site where fossils of the hominid Australopithecus Boisei were discovered. Afterward, you will check in at a lodge in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7 Ngorongoro Crater tour
On Day 7, you will go on a Ngorongoro Crater tour. It is recommended that you descend early in the morning to have a better chance of spotting animals such as the Black Rhinos, which can be elusive during the day. You will have a packed breakfast and spend the day doing game drives until later in the afternoon when you will be taken to Karatu outside the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The Ngorongoro Crater is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a Biosphere Reserve, where you can see the Big Five, as well as over 500 bird species.
Day 8 Relaxation – Transfer to Lake Manyara Airstrip - Departure
On Day 8, you can spend a relaxing morning at Gibb's Farm, a multi-award-winning lodge in the Ngorongoro Highlands. You may also choose to go on a coffee tour walk or a trek in the Ngorongoro Highlands. Later in the day, you will be transferred to Lake Manyara Airstrip for your flight back home.
